Music has the power to bring us together
VENUES

Red Nation Celebration was founded during Indian Market 16 years ago in 1995, which created the music movement during Indian Market. Up until that time there wasn’t any Contemporary or Traditional Music being performed annually. In 2005 Red Nation founded the music scene on the Plaza during Indian Market week-end. In 2009 Red Nation Film Festival “On the Road” was brought to Indian Market bringing the “best of fest” of Award winning films from the oldest & most prestigious American Indian Film Festival in Los Angeles - Annual Red Nation Film Festival – The Authentic Voice of American Indian & Indigenous Cinema (held in November/www.rednationfilmfestival.com). Over 100,000 tourists come in to the city of Santa Fe to experience Indian Market now in its 90th year – the largest gathering of Indian artists.
RED NATION PRODUCTION TEAM THANKS EVERYONE – THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU – SEE YOU NEXT YEAR
RED NATION MUSIC FEST – Music has the Power to Bring Us All Together
Great line up, the talent was off the charts, the day time performances were sweet and moving, Harlan McKosato of Native American Calling intro Indigenous they rocked the house, the evening blessing was lead by Marvin Shallow and his relatives which kicked off the evening performances, Joanelle Romero’s rock/blues band – Noah Watts, Montano Rain and Trixie Merkin opened the set with James Brown’s “I’m RED and I’m Proud”; a photo journalist stated “She has been documenting native bands for years and has never seen a native band so full of soul and depth”; Clan Destine was electrifying and high-energy, the out-side thunder and lighting was felt and heard inside Warehouse 21 which made for a magical evening; the audience was moved to get up and dance – the night ended in celebration of Native Music Matters. Red Nation thanks all musicians/talent, producers and crew who made this production a success and a special thank you to Warehouse 21. A live recording broadcast of the concert series will air on Red Nation Television Channel in the near future! Photos will be posted soon!
3rd Annual RED NATION FILM FESTIVAL – The Authentic Voice of American Indian & Indigenous Cinema
Premiere screening of RUN TO THE EAST was a success, photos of our Red is Green Carpet Gala will be posted soon. Audience members were amazed at the chosen films for this year’s Help the Earth’s Environmental Film Fest which premiered “Spoil”. One audience member said “Spoil was so beautiful and to tell the filmmakers to make more of these films”. 3rd annual Red Nation Film Festival, Dean Stockwell was in attendance for the Red Nation FilmLab Q & A screening of “The Last Movie” a Dennis Hopper Film. Dean Stockwell shared about his best friend and his role in the film. Founder/President of RNFF spoke about the memories of her legal guardian Dennis Hopper. Other audience members who experienced the films screened shared after and stated “You can really see the difference of a native film that is directed by an American Indian filmmaker vs a non-native filmmaker”, the points of views are so radically different and the choices of storytelling is so obviously different. Point being Native filmmakers need to tell their own stories.
Red Nation thanks everyone who attended this years 3rd Annual Red Nation Film Festival and Red Nation Music Fest during Indian Market 2011. See you next year!

RED NATION CALL TO ACTION NATIONAL AWARENESS ENDING SUICIDE ON RESERVATIONS
Red Nation Music Fest is on a mission stated founder of music fest Joanelle Romero (Pow Wow Highway, American Holocaust: When its All Over
I’ll Still Be Indian) “We have lost so many youth to suicide, no parent should have to bury their child, Red Nation feels that music has the power to bring us all together and film has the strength”.
Native youth do not see themselves anywhere, our image is desperately lacking in film, television and radio, we are losing our next generation! Red Nation annual events is one way in which we can make a difference in support of our youth.
Joanelle Romero has 29 years of sobriety; a singer-songwriter /humanitarian, discovered by Legendary Leonard Cohen, only American Indian artist on Sarah McLachlan “Lilith Fair”; produces annual events through Red Nation Celebration to keep Native image at the forefront of the entertainment industries.
Red Nation Music Fest, a $1.00 from each ticket sale goes towards a local charity – this years charity is Native PRIDE. A local non-profit organization dedicated to suicide prevention.
